(5). Whether the Harbour Master exercises a proper super- vision over the clerical staff of the Harbour Depertrent.

(6). Whether in view of the appointment of a Cadet Officer as Superintendent of Imports and Exports the appointment of Assistant Harbour Master is now necessary.

(7). Whether the Boarding Officers and Junk Inspectors can assist in the keeping of books concerning Certificates of Regis- try of vessels and other technical matters.

(8). Whether it is a fact that in the examination of emigrants the work is sometimes suspended at 5 p.m. and carried over till 9 a.m. the following, whereas it might have boon completed on one the same day.
